Microtel Seaside

It's too far from the beach. The hotel is on a busy highway coming into town.

Not the best deal around. The walls were so thin you could almost hear the the folks in the next room breathe. The room was smelly and had little room to move around. The bathroom was also very small.

Our stay for 5 nights here was more like staying at MICRO-HELL! Upon check in the room was found to be extremely small, dark, and although we were told it was new the carpet appeared dirty. The bed was a toss up not really comfortable but acceptable for a low grade hotel. On the first morning we noticed a foul taste of the water and when we asked we were told it was an algae problem and the town was working on it. We purchased bottled water for the remainder of our stay but found it odd that even the restaurant next door had water that tasted just fine as well as everywhere else we tried it in town. We also had trouble having our room cleaned on 3 of the 5 days of our stay, the free breakfast was a joke with the hard boiled eggs tasting spoiled on one occasion. The closet handle came off in our hands each time we opened the door, the bathtub plug would not stay up so the tub filled with water while you showered and the large overhead light bulb in the bathroom was missing. Those 3 items were brought to the attention of the front desk on the 2nd or 3rd morning but even though the front desk clerk made note of them they were still never attended to during our stay. On 3 mornings we left the hotel only to return in the PM to find our trash had not been emptied,the carpet had not been vacuumed. The sinks, mirrors, tub and toilet were NEVER ONCE cleaned in the 5 days (we were told they could not get the cleaner near our personal items, they clean them everywhere else we stayed, the shower and counter tops were never wiped off except by us. Located just off the main drag and close to the beach. Very clean, excellent breakfast.

Overall experience was pleasant and comfortable. Nice community area in the lobby that felt welcoming. Room was clean and up to date. A bit on the basic side - no bedside lights or clock radio. No art on the walls. ...read more

I've stayed in plenty of one star motels/hotels before, but this particular stay was horrible. The toilet was broken, the air conditioning was broken and the cleanliness of the room was disgusting. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. ...read more
